Northwest Kicks Off Season

11/14/2005 -

Scores can be deceiving. Despite losing 42-14 to the University of Colorado on November 5 at the University of Kansas, Northwest Missouri State University won four of the seven contested matches.
Up 7-0 against the University of Kansas, the match was halted to due an unplanned scheduling conflict. The match will be continued later in the season.
Thanks in part to scheduling conflicts and weight issues, Northwest competed with only a partial roster. “We weren’t full strength, but we looked pretty solid in the matches we did wrestle,” Coach Bo Rinehart said.
The duals marked the first time a wrestling team has competed for Northwest Missouri State since 1986 when their Division II program was dropped. As a first year National Collegiate Wrestling Association program, Northwest will be wrestling one of the most rigorous schedules in the NCWA.
With a full list of tournaments including the top teams in NCAA Division I, II and III and dual competitions with top-20 NCAA Division II and III teams like Truman State University and Simpson College, Northwest will use the competition to prepare for the Southwest Conference Tournament.
