SUNY Albany Club to Reactivate in 06-07
The State University of New York at Albany wrestling club is proud to announce it's reactivation for the 2006-2007 season of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association(NCWA). Albany, who's wrestling history is rich with NCAA and Olympic champions, was a charter member of the NCWA. The program placed 6th at the 1998 NCWA national tournament and has had four All-Americans including two National Champs. In recent years the once very competitive student led club has struggled due to lack of coaching.
The officers of the club have tapped veteran coach Stephen Shaw to oversee the program. Shaw comes to Albany from Adirondack Community College where he helped found a club team four years ago. He sees great potential at SUNY Albany due to both the size of the school's student body and the large number of former high school stand outs currently in attendance.
For more information about the program, interested recruits are encouraged to contact Coach Shaw at CoachSShaw@aim.com. A tentative 06-07 schedule is posted on the schedule section of the Albany page of the NCWA website.
