Builders go 1-2 at York Quad

YORK, PA. - The Apprentice School wrestling team ventured to York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday to participate in a quad-match with the 15th-ranked Spartans, 27th-ranked Wilkes University Colonels and the University of Scranton Royals and came away with a 1-2 mark on the day.

Freshman Charles Robinson was the leading wrestler for the Apprentice School (8-8) on the day winning all three of his matches at 184 pounds. He recorded wins by decision against Wilkes (4-2) and York (10-4) and a technical fall victory over Scranton (20-5).

Against Scranton, the Builders opened up with a pair of victories by pin from sophomore Kevin Hill (2:01 at 125 pounds) and freshman Justin Olanowski (:45 at 133) for a 12-0 advantage. Following a Scranton win at 141, sophomore Matt Perry started a run of four out of five matches won by the Builders with a 9-7 victory at 149 pounds. Seniors Justin Gilliard (8-7 at 165) and Eric Lybarger (pin in 1:41 at 174) set up Robinson to take a 20-5 technical fall victory at 184 pounds to give the Builders an insurmountable 29-9 advantage.

In the opener against Wilkes, Robinson's victory was the lone points in a 45-3 loss to the 27th-ranked Colonels. In the match against 15th-ranked York, the hosts won the first five bouts before the trip of Gilliard (8-4 at 165), Lybarger (14-1 at 174) and Robinson (10-4 at 184) gave the Builders their points against the Spartans.

Next up for the Builders will be the 29th annual Builder Invitational at 9 am on January 26.
