Small Squad Propels Panthers at Penn. State Tourney

02/22/2008 -

With a strong core of wrestlers, the University of Pittsburgh's Panther Wrestling Club placed four of five wrestlers to take fourth overall at the Pennsylvania Collegiate State Championships.

Leading the Panthers with first place titles were junior Dave Crown at 133 and freshman Derrick Jusczak. Following them with two fourth place finishes were Alex Despines at 149 and Cody Shue at 174.

Due to prior conflicting obligations, the Panthers only came with five wrestlers, but managed to rack up an impressive 42.5 team points, placing fourth out of the eight teams at host Williamson Trade School in Media, Pa. and placing within sight of schools with much fuller lineups.
