RPI Wrestlers Succeed at Nationals!
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutes (RPI) Ryan Michaels led the showing for RPI's 2008 National qualifiers in Lakeland Florida for the 11th Annual NCWA National Championships.
Michaels (149 lbs.) added to his resume "all-american" honors for the second straight year placing 4th to go along with his 3rd place finish from last years tournament. Ryan becomes the schools second ever National semi-finalist and first ever 2x "all-american".
Brian Jennings (235 lbs.) came up just one win short as a freshman to make it into the "all-american" round on day 3. Jennings finished with a 3-2 mark on the tournament with all his wins coming in the wrestle-back rounds.
Other wrestlers competeing for RPI were freshman Glenn Van Moffaert (141 lbs.) who recorded his first national tournament win advancing to day two. Sophmore Pat Vamosy (197 lbs.) and Freshman Aaron Asch (174 lbs.) had great matches as well in day one but came up just short to advance to day two. Sophmore Adam Bruce (125 lbs.) was unable to make the trip due to unforseen circumstances.
