Middle Tennessee State Hosts Brawl in the Boro
The scene at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, TN on November 8th, 2008 was one of tension as 7 NCWA institutions battled for supremacy at the 2008 Brawl in the Boro, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The eventual champion, Bowling Green State University held on to beat Kennesaw State University by 4 point to go undefeated (6-0) outlasting Tennessee Temple (5-1) to win the title. The University of Dayton, MTSU (4th), and Kennesaw St.(5th) each went 3-3 on the day; however, Dayton took the 3rd place trophy by tiebreaker based on total points scored. Mercer finished 6th and Vanderbilt was 7th. The day was filled with great collegiate wrestling, officiating, and sportsmanship. The meet was also attended by over 40 high school wrestlers who got in to the event for free.
MTSU now heads on to battle Darton, Marion Military, and Central Florida at the Knights Brawl Dual on 11/14/08 followed by the UCF Open on 11/15/08. However, they will have to go the rest of the season without 184lb Justin Weibert who unfortunately broke his collarbone during the tournament.
