Flame Wins First Match At Tenn. State Duals
CHATTANOOGA, TN -- The Lee University men placed third at the 3rd annual Tennessee State Duals hosted by Tennessee Temple University on Feb. 18.
The Flames were able to maintain one man at the duals that included schools Tennessee Temple and Middle Tennessee State University.
Trailing 7-1 after the first period, junior Stephen Ward (174 lb) made an epic comeback by pinning Temple opponent Ryan McKee in the second period after starting from the top position.
“It was great seeing Stephen grab his first victory of the season and at the same time his last win of the season,” said head coach Joe Jellison.
The win gives Ward his first on the season and Jellison a chance to look at shifting his main focus entering the off season to a complete restructure of the team for next fall.
Jellison and his wrestlers will look to enter next season back on track after struggling from minor tough breaks as the season went on. “We need to build on team unity and develop a solid program,” said Jellison. “It will take a lot of time, effort, and commitment,” said Jellison.
