Gators Hire New Assistant Coach
The University of Florida has hired Christian Ciaglia as their new assistant wrestling coach.
A native of Warren, Michigan, Ciaglia is a graduate of Grand Valley State University (GVSU). The GVSU Lakers are a perennial powerhouse of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association. This is Ciaglia’s first coaching job, but Florida head coach John Crandall sees him as a valuable asset to his long-term goal of making the Florida Gators wrestling team one of the top programs in the nation.
“Christian is going to be an important addition to the program,” Crandall said. “He has the added benefit of coming from one of the top programs in the country and can bring a new perspective to our overall strategy.”
Along with graduating from GVSU, Ciaglia has a Master’s from the University of Michigan. He is working on his second Masters at Florida. He is engaged and will marry in March.
Longtime assistant coach Ryland Wagner will still be a valuable support system to the team. The Florida alumnus is also the head coach at Gainesville High School.
