Grand Valley State Goes 3-0 at Mott Duals
The Grand Valley Wrestling team competed this past weekend at the Mott Bear Duals. This event marked the Lakers final competition of 2010 as they finished the day 3-0. This leaves the team at 6-1in dual competition for the fall semester. Each wrestler recorded at least one victory on the day.
GVSU defeated Olivet College's B-Team by a score of 38-6. In this bout Andy Brown at 125 and Robert Hall at 174 avenged losses from earlier in the season.
The Lakers defeated Mott Community College 33-16. In this second dual Adam Bastow at 141 and Robert Tymes at 165 earned big victories over opponents who placed higher than them at the Mott Bear Invite in November. Also coming through with a large comeback victory was D'Mario Lewis at 184.
In the final match, GVSU defeated Saginaw Valley State University 61-0. Bastow battled tough for an overtime victory, Robert (Bobby) Tymes at 165 scored a major decision, and Carl Worthy at 235 won by fall.
Finishing the day undefeated were Bastow, Tymes, Hall, Lewis, Frank Bastien at 197, and Corey Melinn at 285.
The Lakers will return to action after the Winter break.
