On January 26, 2013, the University of California - Santa Barbara wrestling team welcomed the University of Southern California for the first ever dual meet between the two schools. Thanks to a nearly full lineup, the visitors won handily, by a score of 45-6. The highlight for the Gauchos was the win by captain Johnny Alonzo over Kasra Behizad of USC by pin at 1:11 in the second period. The match had a great turnout of spectators including a number of area wrestlers who expressed interest in joining the Santa Barbara program in the next season. |
