Penn College Freshman Goes 3-0 at Penn State Mont Alto Quad

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) went 3-0 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team competed at Penn State Mont Alto in a quad match Saturday. The Wildcats started the day off strong defeating UMBC 38-19 before falling 28-12 to Gloucester County Community College 28-12 and the host 41-12. The win against UMBC is the first on the year for Penn College and first ever against the program. They now are 1-7 overall in the season and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Against UMBC, the Wildcats totaled two pins with Leid recording his at 157 and freshman Patrick Fitzgerald (Port Royal) at 285 at 6:15.

Leid went on to record a decision against Gloucester and Mont Alto. “Troy had a good day,” said head coach Schuyler Frey. “ He wrestled some good competition and had good results.”

Penn College next hosts Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.
