Coach Winkle is a graduate of, and former wrestler for, Hopewell High School and has been active in that school's wrestling program for thirteen years. He holds a master's degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University and a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Geneva College.
Coach Winkle resides with his wife, Lori, daughter, Sarah, and sons Dylan and Dustin in Independence Township.
